Nurse Practitioner-Addictions Recovery (Flatwoods)

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
oFocus primarily on the population identified or suspected behavioral/mental health conditions and establish therapeutic relationships with these patients to add psychiatric expertise to the medical management plan and mitigate any negative impact that behavioral conditions can have on patients' overall health and well-being.
oProvide all aspects of patient psychiatric healthcare, including diagnosis, and treatment of various psychiatric and common medical conditions.
oDiagnosis and support the management of comorbidities and complications common to patients with behavioral/mental health conditions.
oProvide direct psychiatric services through initial comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including prescribing and administering medications.
oPrescribe and monitor behavioral health medications prescribed.
oHandle psychiatric emergencies as needed.
oCommunicate with the patient's primary care provider regarding changes in conditions or potential medication changes.
oCollaborate with supervising physician in regards to particularly complex behavioral/mental conditions.
Maintain partnership with supervising physician through regular communication, care plan development, medication management, etc.
oParticipate in quality assurance, educational, and professional committees as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
oActively participate in regular multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure that all high-risk patients consider and address behavioral health issues.
oOther duties, as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
oAbility to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executive management, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
oAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified.
oAbility to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/challenging priorities.
oCritical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities are required as related to various aspects of patient care.
oGood clinical judgmentoCritical thinking skills are necessary to exercise and lead others in applying acceptable standards of practice.
oAwareness of NCQA requirements and CMS guidelines are helpful.
Education/Training/
Experience:
oNational certification as a Nurse PractitioneroCurrent registered nurse license and an NP license to practice in the State of West VirginiaoCurrent prescriptive authority from the State Board of NursingoCurrent Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) numberoCertified Registered Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is highly preferred.
However, if not certified, CCWV will provide intensive training under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist in a new model of team-based, integrated care in which behavioral health clinicians, primary care providers, and pharmacists all work closely together, sharing the same electronic health record.
